Dry Erase Marker, on a Mirror in the Women’s Restroom, in a Local Coffeehouse: Day Ten

This post is part of the Secret Messages Project.  Every day for thirty days, I’ll leave my words in places where they might be found — or might never be found at all.  I hope you’ll join me.

Earlier this week, I wanted to say something to all of us ladies who lean into the bathroom mirror and feel the time slipping past, the days sliding forward as we fade.

So I uncapped a dry-erase marker and scribbled something that I know is true — I know it’s true even when I’m doubting it myself:

We are already beautiful.

(And maybe we always were.)

Whatever we do from here on out
is just decoration.

A little extra grace for you today … Let’s beautify our souls and let the rest be a reflection of that.

P.S.  I think you’re kinda spectacular. ❤

  1. I wish I had the courage to get rid of all mirrors! I feel happy with myself these days until I look up and there is this image that is SO not me HA HA!
So which is the real me? The one in my head or the one in the mirror? It’s confusing, it really is. I am still learning to feel the difference 🙂

    1. Such an interesting conundrum, & it raises a lot of questions about how we navigate our identity and that messy but unavoidable relationship between the body and the soul. (Obviously, the subject fascinates me).

You’re not alone in feeling the way you do. Here’s hoping you make a little peace with your reflection today … ❤
