You.
You.
You.
You have loved me
like mountains do —
steady and
unmoved.
(And stormswept, rainslicked,
rockstrewn, too —ย oh, God!
how the lightning clawed and
slashedย through theย stones.)
*
But still.
You.
*
All this time.
Only You. โค
Love this. Very moody.

Thanks, Miriam! I enjoyed tinkering with it. It’s still unfinished (which is why I always categorize these posts under “Almost Poetry”), and this is one that I could see taking different directions at the end.
The last line will occur to me eventually. ๐

Great tribute to the unnamed ‘you’.
Also the title took me way back to my childhood in the 80’s:
Hey you, the rocksteady crew
Show what you do, make a break make a move.
Off now for a burnout ๐

Oh, those 80s. Make sure you’ve got the rocker hair to match. ๐

Yes. Both a poem and a prayer. I love that you can see that. ๐
I wrote this one for my husband T, but as I was tinkering it into shape it became more and more apparent that it could just as easily be about my Maker.
And it’s beautiful to me, that those two loves can nest inside each other that way… The one an imperfect but beautiful reflection of the other.
I’m lucky. ๐
Thank you for reading!!

I love this so much! I often miss my love and send him just the word You. Beautifully written!

Isn’t it funny how intimate one ambiguous pronoun can be, when it’s said with the right heart? ๐

It took me two read throughs this morning to realize there was too much here to absorb in any quick glance. Now I’m back and still trying to process it. Powerful stuff.

I have to think that’s probably a good thing.
Thank you for reading. And processing. And commenting. And being you. ๐
