rock-steady

You.

You.

You.

You have loved me
like mountains do —
steady and
unmoved.

(And stormswept, rainslicked,
rockstrewn, too —ย oh, God!
how the lightning clawed and
slashedย through theย stones.)

*

But still.

You.

*

All this time.

Only You. โค

    1. Thanks, Miriam! I enjoyed tinkering with it. It’s still unfinished (which is why I always categorize these posts under “Almost Poetry”), and this is one that I could see taking different directions at the end.

The last line will occur to me eventually. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Great tribute to the unnamed ‘you’.

Also the title took me way back to my childhood in the 80’s:
    Hey you, the rocksteady crew
Show what you do, make a break make a move.

Off now for a burnout ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Yes. Both a poem and a prayer. I love that you can see that. ๐Ÿ™‚

I wrote this one for my husband T, but as I was tinkering it into shape it became more and more apparent that it could just as easily be about my Maker.

And it’s beautiful to me, that those two loves can nest inside each other that way… The one an imperfect but beautiful reflection of the other.

      I’m lucky. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Thank you for reading!!
