(Sometimes it’s tough to feel at home in your own city. Which is why I’ve given myself a challenge: each day, for forty days, I’m going to find *one* thing I love about this place. And then I’m going to tell you about it. If you want to follow my journey, start here. Today is Day Six.)
Sometimes a quick glance over your shoulder casts everything in a new light.
That’s why, each Sunday night, I’ll be posting a collection of images from the previous week — some of them highlights from the posts you’ve already seen, some previews of what’s to come … and some just little flashes of gratitude and goodness that I’ll probably never have any words for…
This week I decided to see my city differently.
I took my first painting class since elementary school.
I walked the greenway in search of secret messages.
I saw Cirque du Soleil (twice!), cheered for the Hokies at Lane Stadium (we lost — and I’m still grateful for the opportunity to cheer), discovered a special box of chocolates in my mailbox, searched for treasures at the local farmer’s market, hiked a new trail with a friend, tried a new restaurant with a beautiful couple I’m just getting to know, and watched a perfect sunset.
Dear Star City: so far, you’re looking pretty good.
YAY! 🙂 xx
